China, German, Premier, Sany--Wen Jiabao and German Chancellor Merkel Hold Talks with Chinese and German Entrepreneurs

On the morning of July 17, 2010, Premier of the State Council Wen Jiabao and German Chancellor Angela Merkel who were visiting Shanxi held a seminar with Chinese and German entrepreneurs in Xi’an, listening to their views and suggestions on the bilateral economic and trade cooperation and answering their questions. The two prime ministers said that China-Germany relations stand at a new starting point and both sides should seize the opportunity to continuously expand the mutually beneficial cooperation and raise the bilateral economic and trade relations to a new level.

Wen stressed that after years of efforts China has developed relatively sound infrastructure and stable and fair market environment. China has become one of the biggest destinations of foreign investment. We unswervingly pursue the policy of opening up and welcome more German companies to invest in China.

Merkel noted that Germany-China economic and trade cooperation is also the cooperation between people. The frank communications between business communities of both countries help increase mutual understanding. China enjoys a long history and culture and the German government will work hard to help all sectors of the German society to better understand China and promote the bilateral cooperation.

At the seminar, Chairman of Siemens Peter Löscher, Chairman of BASF Jürgen Hambrecht, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Heraeus Jürgen Heraeus, President of China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company Wei Jiafu and President of Sany Heavy Industries Co., Ltd Xiang Wenbo made remarks.

Wen and Merkel jointly visited the China-Germany joint venture Siemens Signal Co., Ltd which specializes in developing, designing, producing and selling signal equipment and system for trunk railway, urban mass transit, dedicated railway and other mass transit systems and providing relevant engineering services.
