Weichai, engine,--First New Engines Since Weichai Acquisition

French engine builder Moteurs Baudouin has launched a new engine range, the first since the company was acquired by China's Weichai Power. At the recently concluded SMM marine trade show in Hamburg, Germany, Moteurs Baudouin unveiled its newest French-built M26.2 range of marine diesel engines.

The new engines are available in 6-,8- and 12-cylinder options ranging from a nominal power of 444 hp at 1500 rpm to 1084 hp at 1900 rpm. They are designed to be IMO Tier 2 compliant and also meet inland shipping regulations which the company said is a core market segment target.

Weichai Power Co., Ltd., based in Shandong province, acquired Moteurs Baudouin in 2009. The company is one of China’s largest manufacturers of diesel engines, with estimated production of over 300,000 units used in the on-highway, off-highway, stationary and marine markets. It also owns SHAC, a truck manufacturer and Fast Gear one of the largest transmission companies in China.
