China, FDI, manufacturing, investment--China's utilized FDI up 6.14% in Sep

Oct. 15, 2010 (China Knowledge) - China's utilized foreign direct investment climbed 6.14% year on year to US$8.38 billion in September this year, according to a statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce.

In the first nine months, the country's utilized FDI totaled US$74.34 billion, up 16.6% year on year.

Total of 19,209 foreign-invested enterprises have been approved in the first nine months of this year, 17.5% more than in the same period of last year. In the first eight months of this year, the figure was 16,721.

In the period from January to September, the manufacturing sector's utilized FDI grew 1.6% year on year, while the service sector's utilized FDI increased 32.1% from a year earlier.

The statistics also showed that 3,000 key retail enterprises in the country saw their retail sales grow 18.8% in last month from a year earlier. The growth rate was 0.5 percentage points more than in August.
