JCB--JCB on the way back with significant orders placed

PROOF that JCB is emerging from the recession strongly has been seen this week with the signing of two major orders.

The biggest of the orders saw the digger giant win an order for 94 industrial forklifts from a company appointed to be its materials handling fleet service provider.

The multi-million pound deal for JCB’s Teletruks is one of the biggest to be placed in the UK this year for the forklifts.

The machines made at JCB Utility Products are being put to work by materials handling specialists Barloworld Handling at JCB’s 11 plants across Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Wales after the Rocester-based company appointed it to manage its entire 310-strong materials handling fleet.

Chris Nowell, JCB industrial general manager, said: “This is one of the biggest single orders in the UK this year for industrial forklifts and is one of the largest ever deals we’ve done for JCB Teletruks.

“Many businesses including JCB now rely on the benefits of forwards reach because of the time it saves loading and unloading.” Meanwhile, JCB has also won an order for a fleet of six new machines from a Midlands’ plant hirer.

Gloucestershire-based Rocket Rentals, based in Dursley, is investing in six of the newly launched JCB 515-40 materials handling machines and the first has gone straight out on hire to Devizesbased construction firm Gaiger Bros Ltd, where it is working on a school renovation project.

Rocket Rentals’ order marks one of the first deals for the new model, which is the smallest Loadall telescopic handler ever produced by JCB.

Although compact, the machine packs a might punch, able to handle a 1500kg payload at a 4- metre lift height. Thanks to its width of just 1.56m, it can also access tight spots on construction sites.

A JCB spokesman said: “The newly-launched 515-40 machine is proving hugely popular and we are delighted to have won such a significant order from Rocket Rentals.”
