Hyster, Forklifts, material handling--Hyster Launches Tier 4i/Stage 3b Forklifts

Material handling equipment manufacturer Hyster has launched its full range of Tier 4 interim/Stage 3b compliant machinery for ports, terminals and heavy industry.

According to the company, the new generation of Cummins engine-powered forklifts, container handlers and reachstackers achieve up to 15% improved fuel efficiency although Hyster has suggested that 20% is achievable.

The move represents an engine downsizing within the industry with Cummins adding that while the QSL9 L and QSB6.7 L engine-powered forklift trucks cut fuel and have a lower carbon footprint, they provide the same lift capacity, lift speed and travel speed as the equivalent Tier 3/Stage 3a trucks with larger displacement engines.

The new full Big Truck range from Hyster has 16 to 32 tonne lift capacities and is being built at the company’s plant in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The trucks are powered by Cummins’ new QSB 6.7 engines rated up to 270 hp.

Hyster’s 5-8 high empty container handler (based on the 16 to18 ton forklift) will also feature the new QSB 6.7 Tier 4 interim/Stage 3b compliant engine. On the larger models the emissions regulations will be met using the new Cummins QSL9 rated up to 370 hp to power Hyster’s 36 to 48 tonne forklift trucks, laden container handlers and reachstackers.
