Nissan Motor, China--Nissan Motor's China sales up 16.6% in Oct

Nov. 10, 2010 - Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Co said it saw its car sales in China grow 16.6% year on year to 83,681 units in October, sources reported.

In the first ten months of this year, car sales were 838,696 units, 36.8% more than in the same period of last year, said the automaker, adding the figure included the sales of vehicles made by its joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group Co in China. 

The robust sales growth makes Nissan Motor achieve its sales targets in China for this year in advance. The firm originally aimed to sell 860,000 vehicles in China. The company expected that car sales in china this year will hit 960,000 units.

Kimiyasu Nakamura, president of Dongfeng Motor Co, last week noted that the company expected that car sales in China for this year will reach 18 million units, up from the 13.5 million units recorded last year.
