Volvo, truck, Europe, America--Volvo Truck Deliveries Soar

If the commercial truck markets are indeed a bellweather of economic health, then it’s clear that things are indeed improving in the global economy. The most recent sign of that was Volvo’s announcement that globally, its truck deliveries in October were 68% higher than the same period of 2009.

In October, total truck deliveries for Volvo worldwide were 7999, up from 4752 in 2009. Deliveries to Europe amounted to 3442 trucks, 90% ahead of the year-ago period. In North America, deliveries totalled 1651 trucks, an increase of 93% compared to 2009.

Year-to-date numbers were also encouraging. Europe, with 22,287 deliveries, was up 39%, while the North American total of 9448 was 55% better than 2009. In South America the deliveries in October were up 38%, supported by growing domestic markets. Overall, deliveries in South America have increased by 91% to 14,917 trucks.
