Construction equipment, JCB--Construction equipment dealer JCB expands

Cliff Anglewicz says he wasn't afraid to start a new business segment serving an industry - construction - that has been pummeled by the nation's economic downturn.

"We have a policy that we don't participate in recessions," he said.

His company, Yes Equipment and Services, is moving its JCB of Milwaukee division into a newly expanded building at 12011 W. Silver Spring Drive.

Anglewicz said he bought the 8,000-square-foot building and expanded it by 10,000 square feet. Financing of the project was done through the Milwaukee Economic Development Corp., he said.

Yes Equipment added the JCB brand in 2008. "It grew faster than we anticipated," Anglewicz said.

JCB is based in the United Kingdom, with its U.S. operations and a manufacturing plant based in Georgia.

Among JCB's products is a skid steer loader that the operator can enter using a side door rather than climbing into the front of the machine, Anglewicz said.

Skid steer loaders are small, versatile pieces of equipment that usually have a bucket or some other type of material-handling device attached to them. The machines are commonly used in the construction and agriculture industries, and there are a number of manufacturers and brands competing in the marketplace.

Anglewicz said his business will continue trying to gain market share. "We're really going to attack that skid steer market," Anglewicz said.

He also said the construction industry is showing signs of a recovery.

"We're very busy," Anglewicz said. "Our guys have been working overtime for the last month and a half."

He plans to add three to five mechanics.

"We're seeing a lot of interest in construction equipment," he added. "The phone's been ringing pretty good."
