Doosan, machine tools--Doosan Infracore's machine tools will turn over 2.2 trillion won by 2015

- Emerge as a leading global company by establishing 20,000 units of production capacity annually by 2015
- Target its marketing on the North American region and the emerging markets of Central and South America

Doosan Infracore’s machine tools division announced that it will emerge as a top global producer through the establishment of 20,000 units of production capacity annually to achieve sales of 2.2 trillion won by 2015.

Recently, based on the boom of the Chinese market and the domestic market, Doosan Infracore has accelerated its growth. It has decided that it is necessary to level up its position in the advanced market to become a leading global company, which is why it is aggressively targeting the North American market, though it is in recession, and also aiming for market dominance in the emerging markets of Brazil and Central and South America.

In order to vitalize the declining North American market due to the global financial crisis, Doosan Infracore has implemented unique and differentiated strategies. It has focused its marketing capabilities by implementing a ‘product-dealer-customer’ linking system so that sales can be increased. Also, it boosted the demand for orders from the North American market by carrying out differentiated strategies through the forward deployment of its sales personnel and the strengthening of support for its secondary customer services.

Additionally, Doosan Infracore has been striving to dominate the emerging markets of Brazil and Central and South America. Aggressive marketing activities have been carried out in these regions, including the dispatch of technical staff to local sites in order to carry out targeted marketing against the automobile and relevant parts industries. The result of these activities was a doubling of the order volume compared to the previous year.

As part of its strategies for the American region, Doosan Infracore participated in the IMTS 2010 (International Manufacturing Technology Show) - the world’s largest machine tool exhibition - held in Chicago, U.S., to exhibit twenty one different tool models, including next-generation models, thirteen new strategic turning center models for the American region, and eight machining center models, to showcase its technological prowess as a leading global company.

The responses of the spectators were positive towards its machining center (HP5100LPS), due to its high level of automated functionality, and its turning center (VTS1214), which is capable of processing large-sized parts, such as those used in the aeroengine, oil/gas and shipping industries.

The executive director of Doosan Infracore, Kim Jae Seop (BG Head of Machine Tool Automation), said: “Doosan Infracore was acknowledged by the host of the exhibition, the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT), as one of the big five MTBs (Machine Tool Builder), which include Mazak and Mori. Therefore, we were provided with a 1580?booth, the biggest in the very front row of the exhibition. This is symbolic of how Doosan Infracore has achieved a high status in the American machine tool market.”

This year marks the 28th anniversary of the IMTS exhibition. It is one of the world’s largest machine tool exhibitions and attracted 1,800 companies from 119 countries. It is an important exhibition where new products in the fields of process/plastic machine tools, various measuring instruments and tools, and automation and control technologies can be compared and future industry trends identified.
