Daimler | Mitsubishi Fuso--Daimler Wants More Of Mitsubishi Fuso

Daimler AG announced that it will increase its share in Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp. (MFTBC) to 89.29% following an investment of €271 million (US$350 million). The company currently owns approximately 85%, with the remainder held by the Mitsubishi Group.

MFTBC is part of the Daimler Trucks business unit of Daimler AG and is located in Kawasaki, Japan, where it develops, manufactures and markets the Fuso range of trucks and buses. Within Daimler Trucks, Fuso is the main organization in Asia and represents the competence center for light trucks worldwide. Fuso also hosts the company's global Hybrid Center for all truck ranges.

Daimler said this new investment was aimed at supporting the further expansion of the Fuso brand, in view of the increase in global commercial vehicle markets after the economic crisis. The company said that a stronger integration in the Daimler Trucks business unit will allow Fuso to concentrate on further growth and improved efficiency.
