By the third quarter last year, Japan Inc's overseas mergers and acquisitions nearly doubled to $34.1 billion, and companies say they aren't done yet with the yen still not far from a 15-year peak.

The head of No.2 convenience chain Lawson, Takeshi Niinami, sees its China operations growing by 10 times amid a saturated market at home.
Takeshi Niinami, President of Lawson Inc. said "We do want to put at least $50 to $100 million at least in China for this year. And in the second year, maybe double that."

Lawson is not alone, as world No.2 construction machinery maker Komatsu, which hiked its profit forecast to $2.45 billion based on soaring China sales, sees acquisitions ahead.

Masahiro Sakane, Chairman of Komatsu Ltd. said "With the strong yen, if there is the right M& A target, and considering the Japanese market condition, it would be a very good chance for us."

Komatsu's sales to China alone jumped 46 percent in the first half of the business year, while the brisk demand has allowed it to raise prices - a luxury not possible at home.
