Pump truck|German made|Long-Armed Concrete Pumper Sprays Water At Nuclear Plant

TOKYO (Nikkei)--A German-made concrete pump truck featuring a 58-meter arm joined efforts Tuesday afternoon to funnel water into the No. 4 reactor at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

The remote-controlled vehicle's long arm makes it possible to accurately shoot water at a particular point.

The specialized vehicle is usually used to deliver wet concrete high on buildings under construction. On Tuesday, it pumped about 150 tons of water into the damaged reactor building.

Firefighters also continued Tuesday to pour water at the No. 3 reactor. In four operations since Saturday, a total of 3,800 tons was sprayed, nearly triple the 1,400-ton capacity of the building's spent-fuel pool.
