Heavy equipment | Heavy equipment manufacturing center opens in Echague town

ECHAGUE, Isabela, July 20 (PIA) -- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Metal Industry Research Development (MIRD), in collaboration with the Isabela State University, recently opened an agro-industrial equipment manufacturing center in ISU, Echague, Campus.


DOST Regional Director Urdujah A. Tejada said that the heavy equipment manufacturing center will produce globally competitive machineries, equipment, parts, and services to be sold at less cost to the farmers.


The center is being managed by an organized cluster of members who are from the different private equipment manufacturing industries in the region.


MIRD Executive Director Engr. Arthur Cruz said that manufacturing center will serve as world class manufacturer and supplier of agro-industrial machineries and components to capture substantial market share and earn beneficial return.


Cruz added that the project also aims to upgrade and develop competencies of the region’s work force to ensure efficient and effective delivery of service.


“This will also complement the government’s agro-industrialization program seeing its contribution to the livelihoods and industries not only in the region but also to other regions,” Cruz said.


During the grand opening, the officials showcased their manufactured equipment such as hand tractors, corn shellers, amphitillers, powertillers, corn planter machines, cassava granulators, sugarcane crashers, multi-bladed chippers, flour sifters and many others.
