Putzmeister | Putzmeister to invest 4 million Euros to expand Goa facility

Panaji: Putzmeister Concrete Machines Private Limited (PCMPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Putzmeister AG, plans to expand production capacity at its manufacturing plant in Verna Industrial Estate in South Goa over the next three years with an investment of four million euros.

"We have already invested six million euros in our India operations and will now invest four million euros more to increase our capacity to meet the rising demand of concrete machines and other construction equipment in India. The money would be used to expand our manufacturing facility by a few thousand square metres," said Michael Schmid-Lindenmayer, Managing Director, PCMPL.
Currently nearly 50 to 70 percent of the components for the machines are directly imported from Germany. Putzmeister plans to increase its localisation to 90 - 100 percent in the next couple of years.

The company's trailer pump manufacturing capacity will be increased to 3000 and truck pump capacity to 2000. Putzmeister's manufacturing plant at Goa has a capacity of producing 15,000 machines annually.

Putzmeister manufactures a range of construction equipments, including concrete pumps, tunneling machines, industrial pumps and mortar machines. The market for these concrete pumps is expected to grow at 50 to 60 percent annually, due to several mega government sector infrastructure projects. The company is targeting a turnover of of Rs 240 crore for the current fiscal. It recorded a turnover of Rs 177 crore last fiscal.

The funds had been cleared by the company's board of directors and would be disbursed later this month.

Volvo Penta India recently secured an order for 150 Nos TAD620VE engines for Putzmeister's series productions of stationery concrete pump model BSA 1409D and truck mounted concrete boom pump model BSF 36 from their Goa plant till September 2011. Also Volvo Penta India secured an order for 4 Nos TAD722VE Pilot engine order from Putzmeister Concrete machines, India for their heavy duty stationery concrete pump.
